Frumious Bandersnatch
Album CoverIf any one group can legitimately qualify as the "great lost psychedelic band", then Frumious Bandersnatch is that group. The few tantalizing glimpses of the combo afforded by their solo release from the 1960s gained an enormous reputation. The subsequent fortunes of its members in groups like Journey and The Steve Miller Band have only added to the phenomenon. The name, derived from Lewis Carroll's proto-psych 'Jabberwocky', has an exciting air of psychedelic mystery to it. So, after years of wishful thinking on the part of psychedelic music aficionados all over the world, we are proud to present our brand new 2002 limited purple vinyl LP release by these West Coast legends entitled "The Studio Takes".

Bandersnatch - Golden Songs Of Libra
(The Studio Outtakes) LP (get624)
The few tantalizing glimpses of the combo afforded by their sole release from the 1960s have engendered an enormous reputation. The subsequent fortunes of its members in groups like Journey and the Steve Miller Band have only added to the phenomenon. Even the name, derived from Lewis Carroll's proto-psych 'Jabberwocky', has an enticing air of psychedelic mystery to it. Frumious Bandersnatch were amongst the second wave of the 1960s San Francisco rock renaissance, but they had no allegiance to folk or jazz or any of the other influences that shaped the major players such as the Dead or the Airplane. Instead, the group came together in the culturally-arid environs of Contra Costa County in the East Bay, over the hill from politicized Berkeley and working-class Oakland and a world away from cosmopolitan San Francisco itself. All the future members of the group came from a solidly white suburban rock & roll background; i.e., surf, blue-eyed R&B and British Invasion. That makes the earnestness of their later musical achievement all the more extraordinary.
